China Tourism News Comments: "Charm of Jiangsu" Picks Up Momentum and Tourism Takes an Upturn.


According to the monitoring data of Jiangsu Smart Culture and Tourism Platform, in the first half of this year, Jiangsu received 478 million domestic and foreign tourists, an increase of 98.3% year-on-year, and generated a total income of 610 billion yuan from the tourism industry, up 83.5% year-on-year. According to the comparable statistics, it is an increase of 10.7% and 2.3% respectively, compared with the same period in 2019.

High-quality Tourism Products That Are Well Received and Popular

This year, Jiangsu keeps enriching the products of cultural tourism, optimizing the product structure to meet the needs of tourists.

In the first half of the year, Jiangsu launched the second batch of 12 unlimited space for intangible cultural heritage provincial demonstration projects, 8 intangible cultural heritage creative bases, and released 20 “Charm of Jiangsu” intangible cultural heritage themed travel routes, turning the new chapter of integration and development of intangible cultural heritage and tourism.


So far this year, Jiangsu has improved the cultural tourism development pattern of "two corridors, two belts, and two areas", promoted in depth the world-class canal culture heritages, coastal ecotourism corridor and the Yangzi River urban leisure tourism belt, Silk Road Tourism Belt construction in the east of the land bridge. Provincewide, 3 tourism and leisure blocks and 1 national holiday resort are newly built. Meanwhile, 3 cases are selected as "Cases of Rural Revitalization Assisted by World Tourism Alliance", and 30 cultural tourism landmarks are selected as "Yangtze River Themed National Travel Routes" by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.


Targeted Promotion to Attract Tourists to Jiangsu

Relying on high-quality products, Jiangsu carries out a series of marketing and promotional activities throughout the year, such as the "Charm of Jiangsu - More Beautiful with You", to invite more tourists from outside the province and abroad.

Sponsored by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, "Charm of Jiangsu” Investigatory Visit of 100 Travel Agencies has started. And the one hundred domestic and foreign travel agencies, divided into four groups, from important sources of tourists and OTA representatives spent four days in 13 municipalities in Jiangsu to survey the travel routes.

Meanwhile, Jiangsu also pays special attention to publicity for inbound and outbound tours and tourism recovery. During the "International Tea Day", Jiangsu carried out "Tea and the World" thematic promotion activities in Singapore, Nepal and Fiji. On June 9, in the "Hello China!" - 2023 Yangtze River Themed Tourism Overseas Promotion Campaign in France, the focus of the promotion was on the three impressive routes, namely "Coming to Jiangsu, wandering in the world's literary capital and culinary capital", "Tranquil life in the water town", "Meet the Colorful Jiangsu". At the end of June, the "Charm of Jiangsu" cultural tourism public promotion arrived in South Korea, Japan, and used featured exhibitions, themed presentation, interaction with intangible cultural heritage to comprehensively display Jiangsu’s watery charm. By the end of June, Jiangsu Province has received more than 10,000 inbound tourists.

Keep Up Momentum to Boost Tourism

Since February this year and after Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and Department of Finance of Jiangsu Province jointly issued the "Specific Policies and Measures for Promoting the Overall Recovery of the Province's Cultural Tourism Market", Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism quickly implemented the relevant policies and measures to boost market confidence, stimulate the recovery of cultural tourism.

During the summer holiday from July to August, Jiangsu proceeded to hold the second "Museum Knowledge Tour" summer series of activities, "Charm of Jiangsu - the Most Beautiful Night" summer night theme activities, "Charm of Jiangsu - Hundred Villages and Ten Thousand Cars’ Self-Driving Tour”. These promotion activities have been launched in Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shanghai and other cities to further consolidate the recovery momentum of the cultural tourism market.
