Qingming Festival, a traditional Chinese festival

The Qingming Festival is also called Taqing Festival and Ancestor Worship Festival. The Qingming Festival originates from the ancestral belief and the custom of Spring Worship in ancient times. It has both natural and humanistic contents. It is both a natural solar term day and a traditional festival.

In the course of history, The Qingming Festival has carried rich cultural content, and there are differences in customs, contents and details due to different regions in the country. Festivals vary from place to place, but ancestor-worship and outing are common basic rituals.

During the The Qingming Festival, no matter where they are, people will return home to participate in ancestor worship activities. Ancestor worship is the core of The Qingming Festival rituals. The Qingming Festival is mainly dedicated to ancestors, expressing the filial piety of the worshippers. It is a cultural tradition to respect ancestors and offer sacrifices devoutly.

The Qingming Festival, when spring comes, the natural world presents a vibrant scene everywhere, which is a good time for an outing. In some areas in southern China, people also have the habit of eating green dumping during the Qingming Festival, using green dumping as solid food for outings.

The Qingming Festival, The Spring Festival, The Dragon Boat Festival, and The Mid-Autumn Festival are also called the four traditional Chinese festivals. On May 20, 2006,The  Qingming Festival was approved by the State Council to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists.
