Qinhuai Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum: The Journey to Ming Dynasty

The Journey to Ming Dynasty is the theme of the first immersive digital experience hall in Nanjing that integrates interactive games, interactive performance and interactive story. The exhibition hall vividly replays the ancient scenes of Nanjing as the capital in the Ming Dynasty, enabling visitors to take a wonderful journey back to the past.

The exhibition can be divided into three partitions: Eighteen Shops of Ming Dynasty, Tiangong Bazaar and the Palace Mystery. The Eighteen Shops of Ming Dynasty reproduces the busy streets in ancient Nanjing. If you want to create your own character as displayed in the painting of Prosperous Nanjing, you can just use your smart phone to scan the QR code on the big screen at the entrance. The AR technology makes history much more vivid. Then you can go to the cloth shop to wear Ming-style apparels, take a sip in the wine shop, have a cup of tea in the teahouse, try ironworking in the blacksmith shop, or make painting and calligraphy as well as enjoy music and dancing in the musical institution at that time. Through these activities, you may explore something different about the dynasty. Step into the Tiangong Bazaar, and you will see many interactive programs of intangible cultural heritage: rubbing, shadow play, divination, word puzzles, through which you may get a better understanding of the charming traditional Chinese culture. The final destination is the Palace Mystery where you can immerse yourself in the interactive and mystical story. You will follow the clues of lighting into the palace, and talk to non-player characters (NPCs) to solve a myriad of puzzles and enjoy the thrilling exploration and plots.

As modern technology meets ancient culture, the prosperous ancient capital reveals its glamour to us again in a time prevalent with Chinese fashion.
