Lingering Garden

Founded in the Wanli Reign of the Ming dynasty, Lingering Garden is known as one of the Top Four Classical Gardens in China, also has the reputation of being “the most famous garden in Suzhou”. Perfect integration of residential functions and garden landscapes is achieved by dividing the garden into different architectural sections. An artistic layout that demonstrates a fantastic sight of “gardens inside garden and landscape surrounding landscape” is subtly created with many twists and turns. The outstanding sceneries allows tourists to “enjoy the mountains and forests without leaving the city”.

The Three Treasures most commendable in the Lingering Garden: The Taihu Cloud Capped Peak, an auspicious treasure in the garden, is well known for its characteristics of holey structure, ruggedness, and slenderness; although the age of the fish fossils embedded in the north wall of the Cloud- Capped Tower is more than 140 million years, their shapes are still lifelike; the moon, mountain shadow, flowing water and waterfalls are faintly visible on a 1.4-meter-diameter natural marble screen, just like an impressive Chinese ink and wash painting.
