Established on May 8, 1973, Lianyungang Museum has a rich collection and a complete variety of cultural relics. Over 10,000 pieces of more than 20 categories from the Paleolithic Age to modern times are kept here, making it a local comprehensive museum to systematically show the profound and long history of Lianyungang. In 2008, Lianyungang Museum has been rated as the first batch of National Second-grade Museums of China by National Cultural Heritage Administration and is open to public for free.

The regular display includes “Mysteries of the Ages—Ling Huiping”, “The Bamboo Books from Ancient Times—Inscribed Wooden Tablets and Bamboo Slips Discovered in Han Tombs of Yinwan, Donghai”, “Culture of the Journey to the West”, “Artworks of Yan Han”, etc. The cultural relics collected in the Museum are mostly of high scientific value. For example, the Wooden Tablets and Bamboo Slips of Yinwan, Donghai, which was listed in China Archive Heritages; the rare Pig Yellow Jade Antique from Han Dynasty; Ling Huiping, China’s third well-preserved “wet mummy” remains from the Han Dynasty even after 2,000 years; and so on.
