Dongtai Anfeng Straw Patchwork

Straw patchwork takes wheat straws as raw materials through multiple processes, including “fumigation, steaming, bleaching, scraping, pushing, ironing, and cutting, engraving, weaving, and drawing”. It can be traced back to the Sui Dynasty, when straw patchwork was an extremely rare and precious tribute to the imperial family.

There was a Straw Patchwork Exhibition Hall in the Anfeng Ancient Town, in which multiple vivid and meaningful paintings are displayed. It is worth mentioning that in addition to the traditional straw patchworks, there are double-sided straw patchworks created by Liu Yongming, a famous artisan in Anfeng. Along with the time vicissitude, the straw patchwork technology has been injected with new vitality under the impartment and inheritance of craftsmen.
