Taizhou Old Street

Taizhou Old Street is a national AAA-level scenic spot, which is located outside the Taoyuan scenic spot on the banks of Fengcheng River. Taizhou Old Street is not a real old street, it also includes the plot of Taoyuan next to it, which was originally a piece of farmland and villagers’ houses in Baoba Village. With the planning and development of the Dongcheng River Scenic Area, Taizhou Old Street was officially started construction in 2007, and it has formed its current scale after two years.

Taizhou old street is full of vitality. But in just two years, it has become the most prosperous business district in Taizhou, and it is also a gathering area of intangible cultural heritage. Secular culture and secular life can be seen here. The old street is about 600 meters long and there are many shops on both sides of the street. Most of them are snack bars, restaurants, and local specialty shops that are closely related to the life of the local people. There is no commercial atmosphere here, on the contrary, there are many old shops that have been operated for many years. They are good in quality and low in price. There is a small square at the corner of the old street. There is an ancient opera building on the square, and there are some tea houses around for tourists to take a rest.

The culture, opera and folk customs displayed in the old street reflect the historical and cultural elements of Taizhou. It is reported that in the near future, in the south of the old street, a “Water Street” is also under planning.
