Lianyungang Revolutionary Memorial Hall is a large-scale patriotic education base that the Central Committee and the Provincial Party Committee attach great importance to. It is a classic red tourism scenic spot integrating many functions, such as propaganda, education, collection, research and tourism, and also a large-scale revolutionary memorial hall at the municipal level in China at present. Lianyungang Revolutionary Memorial Hall was established in June 1987, which original site was Longhai Apartment built in 1925.
Longhai Apartment is a famous historical building and the former site of revolutionary activities in Lianyungang. In March 1938, General Wanyi, the former general of Northeast Army, secretly joined the Communist Party of China here. Old revolutionists Wenhai Zhang, the same following, they did many great and glorious revolutions here.
In the 1970s and 1980s after the founding of New China, Longhai Apartment was once named Xincheng Hostel. In June 1987, Lianyungang Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and Lianyungang Municipal People’s Government repaired and restored Longhai Apartment and set up Lianyungang Revolutionary Memorial Hall. On 1st July 2011, the new hall of Lianyungang Revolutionary Memorial Hall was completed at the foot of beautiful Jiuling Mountain. Longhai Apartment has moved out from a old building to a new one here. The later Longhai Apartment basically maintained the original historical features with indoor furnishings restored to those in that year. Longhai Apartment is the landmark carrier of the thick history of Lianyungang Revolutionary Memorial Hall and an important part of its exhibition content.
Lianyungang Revolutionary Memorial Hall is a permanent exhibition hall of revolutionary history. It is a magnificent and solemn promotion and education base with time style and traditional characteristics.
