Recently, under the guidance of the National Cultural Heritage Administration and the People’s Government of Henan Province, and co-hosted by the Chinese Museums Association, the Chinese Association of Natural Science Museums, and Zhengzhou Municipal People’s Government, the 9th “China Museums and Relevant Products and Technologies Exposition” ended successfully at Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center. The theme of this year’s MPT Expo is “Museums of a New Era: Innovation, Development, and Inheritance”. The total exhibition area of the expo is 60,000 square meters. The participants included more than 600 museums and enterprises, which made it the largest MPT Expo in history.

The joint exhibition of the China Grand Canal Museum and Nanjing Museum is located in booth 1M252 on the first floor of Zhengzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center, covering an area of 252 square meters. As one of the must-visit places recommended by the Chinese Museums Association, the “5G Grand Canal Immersive Experience Area” in the exhibition area of the China Grand Canal Museum enchants the audience and attracts countless visitors. Relying on high-tech presentation such as naked eye 3D technology, the immersive experience area reproduces the landscape, historical sites, and urban development along the Grand Canal comprehensively in the whole basin throughout history, so that the audience can experience the millennial prosperity of the Grand Canal and feel the new vitality of the ancient canal.

The 5-screen presentation with naked eye 3D technology displays 17 cities along the Grand Canal and the audience can have the immersive experience for the beauty of the canal. The tour of the Grand Canal starts from the southern section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and feasts the visitors’ eyes on a series of brilliant landscapes including Gongchen Bridge in Hangzhou, Wumen Bridge in Suzhou, Qingming Bridge in Wuxi, Dongpo Park in Changzhou, and Jinshan Temple in Zhenjiang. Visitors are deeply impressed by the lively morning tea of Yangzhou and their mouth may water by the flavor of the soy sauce from the Yaowan Ancient Town in Xuzhou while enjoying the picturesque sceneries. Traveling north along the Grand Canal, a wonderful yet different view comes into the sight of visitors, such as Daicun Dam in Nanwang Town, Jining City, Baiyangdian Lake in Cangzhou, Sancha River in Tianjin, and Baifuquan Spring in Beijing. The grand scenes of China’s grand canal from the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the Sui Tang Grand Canal, and the East Zhejiang Grand Canal unfold in front of the visitors.

During the Expo, the “Menghua” gift box, a cultural creative product introduced by the China Grand Canal Museum, is also loved by the visitors. The exquisite double-layer wooden gift box contains Huaiyang pastries of different flavors. It is inspired by the Song culture and promotes communication with courtesy from Yangzhou. It inherits the profound historical and cultural heritage of the Grand Canal so that the water of courtesy flows forever.

The joint exhibition area of the China Grand Canal Museum and the Nanjing Museum stood out among a number of cultural museum exhibitors through unique and innovative interaction, hence it won the “Hongbo Award – Best Presentation Award” and became one of the most eye-catching exhibition areas of the cultural museums at the MPT Expo.
